Global Intelligent Innovation Index 2023 officially launched

On 20 October 2023, IBS.BFSU released the 2023 Global Intelligent Innovation Index. The event was hosted by Ma Xiaoyu, Director of the Global Science and Technology Innovation Promotion Research Centre.

Professor Niu Huayong, Dean of IBS.BFSU and Professor Yang Delin, School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University delivered speeches respectively, expressing the significance of the release of the Global Intelligent Innovation Index. Under the current background of the booming development of intelligent technology, the assessment of the intelligent innovation index has a positive guiding and promoting effect on the innovation and development of the country and enterprises.


 



Then, Associate Professor Ma Xiaoyu, introduced the background, indicator system, methodology and result analysis of the Global Intelligent Innovation Index 2023. The Global Intelligent Innovation Index 2023 released this time decomposes the national intelligent innovation level 1 indicators into 3 level 2 indicators, 9 level 3 indicators and 28 level 4 indicators, determines the weights of the indicators based on the random forest model of unsupervised clustering algorithm, and outputs the index scores through the linear synthesis method for evaluation, and finally forms the Global Intelligent Innovation Index and the ranking results. The study found that the global smart innovation index is closely related to the economic environment, scientific research resources, and technological support, and that the United States and China are the "double oligarchy" leading countries in smart innovation in 101 countries in the world, while the gap between China and the United States in terms of the score of the smart innovation index is shrinking.



Liu Ying, Associate Professor of School of Economics and Management, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Liu Guanan, Associate Professor of School of Economics and Management, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Xu Yuko, Assistant Professor of Department of Arts Management, China Conservatory of Music, Li Roo, Assistant Professor of School of International Business, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Liu Jun, Assistant Professor of School of International Business, Beijing Foreign Studies University, and other experts participated in the roundtable forum of Global Intelligence and Innovation Index, and conducted a heated discussion on the current situation and trend of the development of global intelligence and innovation, and put forward valuable suggestions for the further deepening of the research of the Global Intelligence and Innovation Index in the future.

Global Intelligent Innovation Index is a comprehensive evaluation index constructed by the research team of IBS.BFSU based on machine learning methodology and the theory of national innovation ecosystem. The index research has now lasted for three years, and as a pioneering and dynamic cutting-edge research, it will be released continuously in the future, with a view to providing quantitative evaluation standards and dynamic data references for the construction of intelligent innovation in China, and continuously improving China's international competitiveness in the field of intelligent innovation.
