a. International students must apply for an X1 or X2 student visa before coming to China (for details please consult Chinese Embassy in your country). According to Chinese laws, X1 visa holders must apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days of entry into China; otherwise, they will be considered as illegal residents and be liable to a fine of a maximum amount of CNY 10000. They can even be expelled out of China.

b. Physical examination: X1 visa holders must make an online appointment for a physical examination shortly after arrival in China. Students who have already had a physical examination in their home country also need to make an online appointment, and bring the physical examination records (original copies in Chinese or English) to the appointed hospital for verification. After obtaining the physical examination report, please apply for a study residence permit at Student Service Centre, First Floor of Student Centre Building, East Campus, BFSU.

c. Price (only for reference): For Student Residence Permit, the fee is either CNY 400 per 6 months, or CNY 800 per 12 months, depending on the actual charge of China’s entry and exit authorities. For physical examination, the cost varies from CNY 0 to 400 according to the Chinese health and quarantine department.

d. X2 visa holders studying for one semester only do not need a physical examination.
