The International Business School of Beijing Foreign Studies University (IBS.BFSU) successfully organised a vibrant and engaging Orientation Week for over 100 new international students from 26 countries at the start of the Spring Semester 2025. Under the theme ‘Bridging Cultures, Shaping Futures Together’, the week-long event was designed to help new students swiftly adapt to campus life, immerse themselves in the richness of Chinese culture, and embark on their academic journey at IBS.BFSU through a series of diverse and enriching activities.

On the morning of 26th February, IBS.BFSU held the "Meet and Greet" event in the Arabic Building of East Campus. IBS.BFSU Executive Vice Dean Li Sifei, Assistant Dean Dong Lili, Director of the Student Affairs Office Li Yike, Director of the International Accreditation Office Ma Qin, Director of the Department of International Business Chen Yin, Academic Supervisor of the International Programme Liu Miao, along with faculty members, staff, and new students, totalling more than 120 participants attended the event.

In his opening address, Li Sifei emphasised IBS.BFSU’s commitment to nurturing future business leaders with a global perspective, social responsibility, and cross-cultural competence. He encouraged the new students to strive for excellence, actively participate in various activities, and embrace challenges and opportunities to become well-rounded talents with a deep understanding of China and the world.

Dong Lili provided an overview of the International Programme and its dedicated support team. She highlighted the programme’s innovative ‘Business+’ education model, which integrates academic coursework, practical projects, and cultural exchanges to deliver a comprehensive and enriching learning experience.

During the 10-day Orientation Week, IBS.BFSU arranged a wide range of activities to ensure a smooth transition for the new students. These included campus tours, cultural experiences, academic guidance sessions, and opportunities for teacher-student interaction. The campus tour, led by the IBS.BFSU Student Union, introduced students to key facilities such as the library, lecture halls, and sports complex, helping them familiarise themselves with their new environment. Visits to the China Customs Museum and the Forbidden City offered students a glimpse into China’s rich cultural heritage, deepening their appreciation of its history and traditions.

The ‘Game Day’ and the ‘International Cultural Village’ events provided a platform for students from diverse cultural backgrounds to interact and connect. Through fun-filled games and cultural displays, students gained a deeper understanding of one another and forged lasting friendships. Additionally, IBS.BFSU organised entrance education lectures, academic guidance sessions, and workshops on legal and safety matters to help students plan their academic journey effectively and ensure a smooth transition into university life. The Orientation Week culminated in the Potluck and Welcome Dinner, which served as the highlight of the festivities. Students showcased their talents, exchanged ideas, and enjoyed a warm and welcoming atmosphere, further strengthening the bonds within the international student community.

IBS.BFSU remains steadfast in its mission to cultivate future business leaders with a global outlook, continually innovating its approach to talent development. The success of this semester’s Orientation Week not only underscored the school’s commitment to internationalised education but also provided high-quality resources and support services for its international students. As these students from around the world settle into their new academic home, they are poised to thrive at IBS.BFSU, becoming ambassadors of cultural exchange and contributing to the vision of a shared global community.
