On December 4, the winners of the Seventh "My Beautiful Encounter with China" Competition for International Students in China, which was guided by the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education and sponsored by the Service Centre for Scholarly Exchange of the Ministry of Education, were announced, and short video titled ‘titled "From Beijing to Foping: Teaching in China",’ made by the Summer Social Practice and Volunteer Team from the International Business School of Beijing Foreign Studies University (IBS.BFSU), was awarded the third prize.
On July 13, a 19-people social practice team, including Bai Nan and Zou Kang, two supervisors of IBS Student Affairs Office and representatives of Chinese and foreign students, went to Foping County of Shanxi Province for a 12-day summer social practice activity, promoting the connection between IBS and local community, learning poverty alleviation in Foping, assisting in the revitalisation of the county.
The IBS.BFSU social practice team carried out activities including, "foreign language tutoring", "Chinese and foreign cultural exchanges" in Foping County Junior High School and Foping County Middle School. At the same time, the team visited Wangjiawan Village, Yinchanggou Village, and Yueba Village and carried out in-depth research on the themes of "rural e-commerce" and "special tourism". Students interviewed the local village committee, inspected the demonstration site of B&B, learnt the development mode of rural special tourism in Foping, and witnessed the achievements of the construction of the countryside in the new era. In addition, the team also went to visit the Red Army historic site in Shawo Village of Foping County, remembering the bitter and sweet memories, tracing the marks of China’s history.
2023 is the 10th anniversary of China's "One Belt, One Road" initiative. The award is not only an important testimony to the success of IBS.BFSU in carrying out social practice and volunteering, but also an important achievement in promoting the intergration of Chinese and foreign students and encouraging international students to tell China’s Story Well and spread China’s Voice Well. Through social practice, students not only have their language advantage and professional expertise brought into full play, they also understand China's national conditions better, take more social responsibilities as the young generation. At the same time people-to-people communication among Chinese and foreign students have great promoted.
