On June 8, the Closing Ceremony of the Summer Camp of Rome Convitto Nazionale Vittorio Emanuele II was held in the School of Chinese Language and Literature, BFSU.
During the 3-week summer camp, participants were provided with interactive experiential activities in various forms, including visiting Beijing historical attractions, exploring local communities and taking Chinese language and cultural courses. Participating students displayed their works of Chinese calligraphy and painting, also performed Chinese martial arts and folk music.
The Summer Camp of Rome Convitto Nazionale Vittorio Emanuele II is an important cultural exchange event co-organized by Beijing Foreign Studies University and Sapienza University of Rome. Opened in 2009, The Rome Convitto Nazionale Vittorio Emanuele II is an international high school that teaches science-related courses in Chinese, where learning the Chinese language and culture is popular among the students.
With 9 years’ development, the total number of summer camp participants has reached 1100. The summer camp has become one of the best projects launched by both sides, receiving firm support from the Confucius Institute at University of Rome La Sapienza.
The Confucius Institute at University of Rome La Sapienza was co-founded by Beijing Foreign Studies University and Sapienza University of Rome in 2006. Under the joint efforts of teachers from both sides, Confucius Institute at University of Rome La Sapienza has been awarded the honorable title of “Outstanding Confucius Institute” by Office of Chinese Language Council International (known as “Hanban”) for many times. Since its founding, it has held nearly 100 large-scale cultural activities, with over 100,000 participants.
